One man in particular, Basil Garvey (Eric McCormack), finds himself refuting the seriousness of the situation, declaring that he's "not running from the empire" he built. Dotted throughout the trailer are various scenes of era-appropriate torture: a magic trick involving a saw goes horribly wrong, a body is publicly hung from the gallows, and a woman is burnt alive by a form of acid. Of course, like previous Slasher killers, we'll also see the Widow use almost everything she can find to dish out pain in uneven doses. ![]() So it'd be natural to attribute the Widow's killings to divine retribution or a demon working among the living, adding to the paranoia surrounding the morbid murders.įurther narration accompanies a brutal stabbing, as the Widow is revealed to have used a "double-bladed" weapon. Adding onto this, religion has a notable prominence in everyday life.
